I have raised the door sills 2.5", effectively shortening the doors so that they will clear the lift struts.

To do:

  • Determine latch/locking mechanism
  • Weld on 2 additional hinges (5/16 x .050) per side on fuselage
  • Design layout and supports, possibly window
  • Design bolt on hinges for aluminum door tube
  • Design a latching mechanism
  • Buy tubing 3/4 x 3/4 x .062 6061
    • Takeoff: (38 + 32 + 40 + 28 + 38) x 2 = 352'
  • Buy tubing 1/2 x 1/2 x ? 6061 for pop out windows.

Stock door sill cut out and removed

New taller door sill welded in (thanks Mike)
