Since summer 2021, I'm located in the great wet state of Minnesota – floats will be a way of life. I've always planned to add float fittings but the path has always been a little vague on how to get there. Like most aircraft, the front gear leg fitting is used as the forward mount, but getting a rear mount is a different story.
The options:
- Add a gear attach just like the Barrows plans
- Weld on a Cub-style float fitting
- Do what this guy did: bolt-on fitting.
I'm growing partial to option #3 because it cleans up the fuselage when not on floats.
